After an extremely challenging semester and a long week of exams, I was looking forward to three weeks of pure bliss… Sleeping in and not having to rush around to get to class on time.
With the all festivities around the corner, my break started off with a quick trip to the YMCA Gym in Oshawa. Hoping that this is a trend that I will continue for the remainder of my holidays and in the New Year! Later that evening I joined my brother and his family to get a Christmas tree for our home. My brother and his family maintain a tradition of the entire family participating in getting the Christmas tree every year. Enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and Christmas cookies, while decorating the tree really did get everyone at home in the festive mood.
After all the excitement I spent the next morning taking a long walk with Watson, my walking buddy. The weather has been mild in last few days and ideal temperature for walking.
The ski resorts in Uxbridge officially opened for the winter season, last weekend. We live approximately 45 minutes away from these resorts so my family and I did a quick trip to Lake Ridge on Sunday, where I got my first ski lesson. I started off in a slight state of panic going downhill wondering if I will crash on to people on my way down. I did however manage to avoid crashing on people but did have a few falls along the way and struggled to get back on my feet. The day at the ski resort was a very enjoyable experience and a recreational sport that I would like to continue with in the winter, in the future. Although I was a little sore after all the falling, I will recommend that any new comer to Canada try skiing at least once as it is a great way to spend your winter holidays in this country.
With Christmas only a week away, my week was spent doing Christmas shopping at the Oshawa Mall, enjoying the holiday ambience and the festivities while trying take advantage of the all the deals on offer… and now with all the Christmas shopping out of the way, I am left with only to make a desert for the Christmas Party at home this weekend….
Enjoy your holidays. Merry Christmas and wish you all the very best for a fantastic 2015!!
