New Year, New Cheer

New Year, New Cheer

Like many of you, I don’t remember News Year Eve…. just kidding (right?); but with each New Year we celebrate the past and hope to the future. I don’t know about you, but so far mine has been crazy busy. This year is going to be especially exciting as it is my last semester of classes! YAY!!! I rang in the New Year with old friends. I could not think of a better way since I only find my way home every few months and most the time it is right before or right after they come around so I […]

The Musical Cure

Hello there again Jason is back for another year in the twittershpere here to blog for your enjoyment. So far in the world of sports Toronto Maple Leafs fans believe this is their year! They said that every year though so it’s bound to happen one of these days. On a more serious note though I do have something I would like to talk about. I know life can be hard sometimes and while for heart aches, school, and other life stressors there is no magical cure, there just might be a musical one. “A musical cure you say?” Indeed […]

How I am spending my Winter Holidays

How I am spending my Winter Holidays

After an extremely challenging semester and a long week of exams, I was looking forward to three weeks of pure bliss… Sleeping in and not having to rush around to get to class on time. With the all festivities around the corner, my break started off with a quick trip to the YMCA Gym in Oshawa. Hoping that this is a trend that I will continue for the remainder of my holidays and in the New Year! Later that evening I joined my brother and his family to get a Christmas tree for our home. My brother and his family […]

Never Say Goodbye

While preparing for the final term, suddenly a thought gained momentum! This is it! My final semester. Soon we all will part ways and choose our destined paths. These 8 months of Durham College have been a delight! Walking down memory lane, there are so many things I do not want to say goodbye to! College campus Durham College campus has so many wonderful memories attached. The campus has so much to offer to its students. The Market Place, the main student cafeteria, has been our most popular hangout. Though it’s difficult to find yourself a spot at first. But […]

Being Bilingual

How important is it to learn a foreign language? Is it just confined to making your CV stronger or making travelling easier? Far from it, in reality, being bilingual has many important benefits. Memory Strengthening: Having a new language improves overall memory. Bilingual people are better at remembering things. Research says, bilingual people have several mental benefits over single language speakers. It is a myth that a foreign language can be picked up only at young age. On the contrary it can be learned at any stage of life. Improves English: It is believed that all languages are somehow connected! […]

The Best Things in Life are Spring

Just for all those students at the equator or below, it has been a very cold winter, here in Canada. In fact, this has been the worst winter in roughly 20 years, or in my case, forever! So now that winter is coming to an end, let’s take a moment to enjoy some of the changes happening right outside my window. The Weather Outside is Delightful For all of you out there who feel oh so photogenic it is almost #selfieseason! Goodbye Staypuff down jackets, hello short sleeves and flip flops! Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself with the flip […]

How to Prepare for Placement

If you are in school for a health science or community job you will probably have to do one of these if you haven’t already. A placement is more or less an internship that counts as a class. It is usually a pass or fail. For the Practical Nursing program we go into hospitals and work with real clients and provide them care (with supervision of course). Where to Begin? It’s Monday, you start on Thursday, and you think you’re ready. You’ve been hitting the books, maybe making some cue cards, what can stump you? You’re on fire like Katniss […]

Walking in a Winter Canadaland

ICE ICE BABY It gets hard to take a walk in a winter wonderland when the streets and sidewalks are covered in up to 30mm of ice. In some parts of Ontario the roads were so iced that children took to ice skating in the street. The ice was so thick on my car that I had to chisel it off rather than scrape it. Now that all sounds fun, but what ice did to the trees made going outside dangerous. It split some trees right in two under the weight of the ice. WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS You […]
